The gateway to surfing, fishing, whale watching and hiking.
Ucluelet, pronounced You-Clue-Let or best known as ‘Ukee’ sits on the West Coast of Vancouver Island just south of Long Beach and Tofino. Ukee is almost the same distance to Long Beach as Tofino but is also the gateway to Barkley Sound, home to the Broken Group Islands and many other coastal gems. It has been long considered the quainter version of Tofino with more local residents but not as crazy as its sister town. Access to nearby surf beaches and stunning paddling spots is a breeze here. The area is home to the Ucluelet Aquarium — no longer so little, but a must-see for all coastal visitors — and the Wild Pacific Trail, the longest and most scenic trail of its kind in the region.
